WAITSFIELD, VERMONT
Don Joslyn
Don Joslyn raises
a few pigs, about 100 sheep and a herd of calves and bulls that he sends
down the road about tax time so he can pay the farm bills. His ancestors
bought the property in 1858. Their first crops brought in enough to
pay off the mortgage by the middle of the Civil War. Don believes family
land is sacred and if he has his way, he will die on his family farm.
"Selling land is like cutting off your fingers. What do you do
then? If I'm going to starve, this is as good as anyplace to starve."
