Dick Doughty's fieldwork in the Gaza Strip was partially supported by the McIntyre Fund of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, where he received his M.A. in photojournalism. Mohammed El Aydi, Dick Doughty's collaborator on the project, was born as a refugee in the Gaza Strip and works for the United Nations Development Programme there. He holds a B.A. in sociology from Birzeit University, and an M.A. in community development from Manchester University.
